AgriRecover organises the collection of empty packaging and plant protection product residues, fertilisers, biocides, biostimulants and seeds for professional users whose members sell in Belgium. Every year, rinsed and non-rinseable packaging is collected every year at around 150 collection points. Every two years, NUPPP is collected (i.e. non-usable plant protection products) at the same locations. AgriRecover was founded in 1997 by Phytofar (now Belplant), the Belgian Association of the Crop Protection Products Industry. The goal was to meet its statutory requirements regarding packaging waste.
Collected waste is taken to a waste processing plant
Waste is separated into recyclable and non-recyclable waste
Recyclable fractions become plastic granules, which are the basis for new products
These plastic pellets are reshaped into cable protection pipes.
Non-recyclable packaging is incinerated with energy recovery
Do you handle agrochemical packaging waste? Are you a professional user in the agricultural sector? AgriRecover organises the collection of empty packaging and plant protection product residues, fertilisers, biocides, biostimulants and seeds.
You can take packaging with the AgriRecover logo to over 150 collection points. You can do so each year from the end of September to the end of November. AgriRecover bags can be purchased from agrochemical product distributors. If you have properly sorted the different fractions then handing these in at the collection point is free.
The rinsed packaging is recycled. For example, it is often converted into cable sheathing used primarily in the industrial construction industry. For example, 90% of such packaging is collected in Belgium and the plastic is then recycled in Germany. This is a terrific contribution to a more circular economy!
For more than 25 years, AgriRecover has coordinated the collection of empty agrochemical packaging and used plant protection products from all professional users.
Belgium has more than 35,000 farms. We collaborate with the farmers on sustainable agriculture efficiently collecting agrochemical packaging.
AgriRecover has more than 60 members. Our goal is the optimal processing of packaging waste jointly with all manufacturers of plant protection products, fertilisers, biocides, biostimulants and seeds.
AgriRecover can count on our collaboration with some 150 collection points for the collection of agrochemical packaging.
